Originally part of  Elizabethtown, it soon became known as the "Westfields of Elizabethtown." Many of the streets were laid out in the late 1690's.  Almost fully developed now,  this community is world-renowned for its excellent school system, vibrant downtown shopping and varied activities and events.  None of this just happened,  the residents of Westfield are active and up to date.   The Town of Westfield has designated property right downtown and  plans are underway for a memorial in downtown Westfield designed to honor Westfield residents who lost their lives in the World Trade Center attack.
